Provider Bio

I have worked therapeutically with children and families for over 25 years. My approach is
collaborative and comprehensive in that parents are heavily involved in their child’s therapy
process, either directly or supportively. I routinely utilize several approaches throughout the
course of therapy, including cognitive, educational, and supportive. I have extensive training in
psychological assessment which allows me to sort out complex diagnostic questions and consider
factors of intellect or personality that may be contributing to a client’s strengths or struggles. For
several years prior to becoming a therapist, I was truly blessed with the opportunity to work with developmentally impaired individuals and clients with severe autism, which has given me an
appreciation and connectedness with clients on the autism spectrum and other disorders of
executive functioning. I enjoy incorporating animals into therapy sessions whenever possible,
having worked in-session daily with a program-certified therapy dog for seven years, but have
also utilized guinea pigs and parakeets therapeutically. I am currently in the process of training
my newest therapy dog, Finley, a Saint Bernard.

I welcome the opportunity to provide group therapy services. My therapy groups have included:
conflict resolution for teen girls, psychoeducational therapy for parents of children on the autism
spectrum, social skills building for children with ADHD/autism spectrum, and
psychoeducational therapy for parents of young children with behavior issues. I also enjoy public
speaking at schools and churches on any topics relevant to the well-being of children, families
and teachers, including stress management and addressing homework resistance.

My family was recently, finally, blessed with the opportunity to move to the Northwoods after
living in the Milwaukee suburbs for many years. My husband and I are raising our four children,
who are currently in their teen or college years. I am recharged by spending time in nature and
with my three dogs: a Great Dane, a Saint Bernard, and a Pomeranian. For comic relief, I have an
African Grey parrot who makes me laugh every day!
