BRINGING PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING TO AREA SCHOOLS
At the Center for Human Development, we count it a privilege to provide a place where people can come and experience the hope and healing of therapy in a comfortable and private environment. One of the new realities of what we do however, is that there are only so many hours of the day, and people have work to steward and school to attend to.
The challenge arises of how to offer much needed services to those who can’t afford to miss too much school or work in order to come to us. Also, how can we provide deserved anonymity and comfort to those individuals if we go out to them?
We are happy to announce the success and progress of a new approach to mental health provision. We have created a partnership working with area schools to meet students in their school counseling offices during their school hours. This is the fourth year we have been able to send counselors into area schools where students can meet with licensed mental health therapists in the security and privacy of school offices. Usually, this even takes place during a study hour. This also allows parents to provide this service for their children without having to take off work to make it happen. So far, both counselors and counselee’s are experiencing positive results.
We are happy to be a part of this partnership and look forward to continued growth and success in the future. Currently, Center for Human Development is in partnership with Tomahawk schools, Merril Schools, and D. C. Everest High School.
